Personal Injury
In addition to our expertise in defending personal injury claims we also advise clients who have been in accidents, helping them to recover compensation for the injuries and losses they have suffered.
If you or someone you are close to has suffered from an injury this will be a difficult time for you. Our personal injury team is there to support you through the crisis, protect your interests and ensure that you receive the compensation that you are entitled to by law.
Our team can help you with injuries at work or following car accidents, such as whiplash and orthopaedic injuries such as fractures, as well as more complex medical conditions such as spinal cord and head injuries.
How much will it cost?
We know that you will want to understand the financial risks and benefits associated with bringing a claim, which is why we offer free initial advice, including an explanation of how you can afford legal help. For example, you may already have legal expenses cover under an insurance policy or union funding. If appropriate we will also discuss potential ‘no win, no fee’ arrangements with you.
How much will I receive?
There is a fairly rigorous system in place to assess personal injury claims and we can help make sure that you receive what you are entitled to. The compensation awarded is made up following a consideration of two main areas:
- General damages - This is money awarded to compensate you for your pain, suffering and inconvenience. We will tell you about awards in similar cases to your own.
- Special damages - You can also often claim for loss of earnings, rehabilitation, transport, medical bills and other expenses. In this case we ask you to keep all receipts relating to your expenses.
How long will the claim take?
This depends on you and the speed of your recovery. We will work as efficiently as possible to bring your claim to a successful conclusion but it is not always in your best interest to do this quickly. We will stay in close touch with you throughout your case so that you are kept informed every step of the way.
