Social Enterprise
Social enterprises are businesses with a social or environmental mission. The focus is on the social impact of the business rather than the generation of profit for the benefit of the owners. The Big Society may have its critics but a recent survey demonstrates the growth of social enterprises; over 14% of all social enterprises have been set up in the last two years and there are already some 6000 social enterprises providing services to the NHS.
Our Charities and Social Enterprise team combine experience in both the commercial and charitable sectors meaning we are perfectly placed to deal with all types of social enterprise.
Our team's experience includes:
- Setting up a Community Interest Company to provide social housing
- Setting up a Community Interest Company to take a transfer of a community film making enterprise from a charity
- Advice upon setting up a community shop and post office
- Setting up a community land trust
- Incorporating an industrial and provident society to run a community sports facility
